Re: Performance G4 --> G5

Sorry Sam,

It still doesn't support a server VM. The below output shows that no matter what flag is specified, the Client VM is always called....

catalina [261|0] java -server -version
java version "1.4.2_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-141.3)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-38, mixed mode)

catalina [262|0] java -client -version
java version "1.4.2_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-141.3)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-38, mixed mode)

Radar # 2813320

it says

"Mac OS X does not support the -server option to the Java command line."

ok, what that means is that you cannot do

% java -server

however my original email proves that it does

why is this ?

because the page you sent the link for is Java 1.3.1 update 1

and my current JVM is 1.4.2_05 which does support the flag

wether it does anything or not is a different matter
