Let's enter the Terminal command: alias javac "/usr/bin/javac -encoding"

Now, entering "javac ProgramFile.java" gives EXACTLY the same symptoms that Brandon is getting.

Sorry, the alias command should have been: alias javac "/usr/bin/javac -sourcepath"

As far as I can tell, this replicates the original problem. I also think that replacing -sourcepath by -classpath has the same effect.
