Different scroll bar behaviour across Macs

Hi,

I have a Swing application which behaves differently on a 1GHz G4 TiBook than it does on a DP G5 and a clamshell iBook. It works on the G5 and iBook, but on the TiBook vertical scroll bars sometimes lose their down arrow, one of my dialog boxes fails to open and some image drawing seems not to work.

The java version on all three machines is
java version "1.4.2_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-141.4)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-38, mixed mode)
and the OS version is 10.3.8

Are there any known reasons for different behaviour on a TiBook?

Thanks,
  Tom
