It states, "Built in to Mac OS X Tiger is the latest, certified
release of
the Java 2 Platform." That certainly would NOT be 1.4.2.
I believe you're incorrect. Licensees to Sun's Java are required to
put every release through a certification program from Sun to ensure
proper compatibility prior to release.
Apple's latest certified release may indeed still be Java 1.4.2.
Indeed, it could very well be the Java certification process which is
preventing Apple from shipping Java 1.5 in Tiger.
