Well, to be totally correct, the latest version of Java is Java 2
Version 5. As seen here

Here are the releases of the J2SE platform:
* J2SE 5.0
* J2SE 1.4.2
So, no the latest 'certified' version of J2SE is 1.5 or 5. But Glen
Fisher already pointed out that 'certified' doesn't really mean
anything at all.
