If 1.5 is important to you, not buying Tiger will have virtually no effect
on Apple. Tiger's initial sales will go to the eager hoards who *must* have
the very latest OS. The Jaguar and Panther releases suggest that there are a
lot of people in that category.

Not buying Tiger will accomplish two things: it'll delay the spending of
$129, and it'll keep you from running Java 1.5 when it *does* come out. Java
developers are so small a fraction of the Apple customer base that the
boycott will go unnoticed.

Of course, the whole "don't buy Tiger" argument works only if you don't
already get the developer mailings. Anyone getting the mailings will have
Tiger delivered to them without having to spend the $129 at all. And how
many Java developers don't get the mailing?
