Re: Java 1.5 and tiger

How? Because Java 1.5 doesn't come packaged exactly the way you want, and
isn't released as soon as you want it, that means Apple isn't committed to
Java? The lack of logic here is breathtaking.

| [C]onsidering that

Developer previews of Java 1.5 have been available for quite some time now.
Their existence has been mentioned repeatedly on this list. Their existence
is, indeed, part of the reason that so many people believed that Tiger
*would* include 1.5! On what do you base your claim that "we still don't
even have an official developer preview"?

| Either you are committed to Java or you aren't.

And the world is black and white. There are no greys. Nothing else in OS X
competes for Apple's finite resources, so the only possible reason that Java
isn't getting as much attention as it should is that Apple has abandoned it.
They should stop bothering with trivia like Expose, Spotlight, Dashboard,
and so on, none of which are producing any interest in OS X at all. The only
reason anyone wants Tiger to be released is that it's supposed to include
Java 1.5. Java is the only thing that matters, and it's time that Apple
realized that the Mac will be made or broken by its support of Java.

Get real. Java is a bullet point in the OS X sales brochure. Nothing more.
