I have to say
thanks to all Apple's java team to working so hard on Java5 release
I was testing Java5 on all available tiger's builds and I saw how

well done

I'll also add that JDK 1.4.2 has taken a HUGE leap forward in performance over the one in Panther... So definitely congrats.

To note, we're still at half the speed of the windows vm for many things, so here's hoping that the java team can keep doing performance tweaks and make this puppy scream... especially now that 1.4.2 and JDK 5 are both out and rolling, they can take a breather and add more nifty speedups... while waiting for JDK 6.
