I now find myself in the odd position of teaching lectures to CS1
students (studying Java) based on 1.5 syntax, and having to politley
explain that I can't demo the code on my lovely new ibook, because
Apple doesn't support it yet.
I am succesfully running Sun's preview extensions (semi-working
directions are in the list archives) of the 1.5 features on 1.4.2. For
most things (generics being the biggest) it works great.
Doug Lea himself suggests using this backport in favour of his original
concurrent package. It is a direct replacement of the JSR166 classes
(where possible) with only the package names changed.
