"Updating prebinding Another workaround that has proved useful for a
number of Mac OS X 10.3.9 issues is performing a prebinding process
with one of a number of maintenance utilities, such as OnyX or
sterMachine.
You can also perform this procedure by opening Terminal (located in
Applications/Utilities/) and typing this command, followed by the enter
key:
sudo update_prebinding -root / -force"
I recommended that solution from day one
I don't remember, somebody from that list tried to use prebinding
but it wasn't 100% successful: segmentation fault was fixed but new
problem was introduced
I think that applying prebinding again would fix the problem

I updated yesterday and have had no problems at all. Strange....
Agreed. The 10.3.9 update zapped my dual G5 at work (until I
re-installed the security update), but I experienced no problems at
all on my old 400 MHz G3 iMac at home.
