Who knows. Apple has in the past not seeded the actual release
version a few times.
I can't remember a Mac OS X major release that wasn't available
online until now.
It's a real bummer to buy a "Tiger Early Starter Kit" when
everybody can have the retail package today and you are still left
out in the cold if you don't get it yourself.
It would be appropriate, I think, to complain to ADC about this -
it will do more good than a posting here. I have sent such a
letter, and I encourage all ADC Select/Premier members to do so. I
expressed overall satisfaction with the Tiger seeding process, but
annoyance at having customers get access to retail packaged 8A428
builds up to a week before I could buy it legally.
I suspect that it is OT for this list, given that the biggest Java
worry people here had (Java 1.5) has now shown up at the download
site. Available on day one - good going Apple Java people!
(Oh - and I can now say publicly that all of our Java apps work very
well with the new release, and have for most of the beta period. I
have had fewer bugs with 1.5 than on many previous releases. Again,
good going Apple Java people.)
