You might want to check the fonts being used by your program against
those in the system.
I don't know why, but I had some fonts in ~/Library/Fonts. It seem to
be Microsoft-Fonts, like Arial, Tahoma, .. I moved them away and didn't
have a crash since then.
So this was not exactly your suggestion, but thanks anyway.. :-)
