possibility of installing JVM 1.4 in Mac OS 10.0 and
10.1?

There is zero chance of finding a 1.4 JVM to run on 10.0 or 10.1. IIRC, 10.0 has a 1.3.0 JVM only, and 10.1 brought it up to 1.3.1. As far as usefulness, 10.0 pretty much wasn't. Also, over the course of the 10.1.x releases, Java was improved significantly. I'd strongly recommend not supporting 10.0 -> 10.1.4, and only support 10.1.5. I did see your post on Extendamac -- please note that the upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1 was free (and probably still is, if you can find it), so cost is no excuse. If you do intend to support 10.1.5 you'll need to code to the 1.3.1 JRE spec, to include 10.0.4 you'd need to code to the 1.3.0 JRE spec, and also deal with all the Java bugs in all the intervening releases. If your customer insists on 10.0 support, then they really do not understand the issue, and need to be educated.

FYI our product is also in the education market, and
we support 9.x and 10.1.5+.
