I would add
that there is no direct connection between release date for 10.4
and release date for Apple's Java 5 implementation
Apple may release 10.4 but not to release Java 5
so even if Apple release 10.4 in 2 weeks
there is no signs that Apple will release Java 5 in 2 weeks too
however as far as I can see good new is that 10.4 most likely will come
with updated
java 1.4.2 JVM with many bugs fixed (and probably many other bugs
introduced :-) )

Keep in mind that it's as much rumor when eWeek prints it as when
ThinkSecret prints it, and no more reliable. Apple hasn't yet promised
a
release date, not even to paid ADC members. (They haven't even said
whether
the current beta is the release candidate or not.) Nor will they
promise a
date. You'll know when Apple is going to ship Tiger when they announce
that
they *are* shipping it.
