I reinstalled the package, and this time I see the JAI files. So I must be nuts :P

They should be in the same place.

I see these obvious JAI-related files, in addition to J3D-related, and others:
 jai_codec.jar
 jai_core.jar
 libmlib_jai.jnilib
 mlibwrapper_jai.jar

Exactly what do you see?
