I would be all right with the Swing requirement. I am more hesitant to do a lot with something that requires a somewhat non-obvious admin authorized system preference change, even if a one-time thing. Although if this could itself be scripted into some kind of one time prompt possibly it wouldn't be too bad. Would your authorization stuff handle the admin part?
