Question on Manifest File and XCode

Hi. I have what is hopefully a simple question.

I started to use XCode (version 2.1) to build Java applications. It works well and I can run them on Mac OS X. However, if I extract the JAR file from the resulting package and try to run it on Windows, it does not work.

It turns out that XCode generates an incomplete manifest file, namely one that does not include information about the main class. I found the only way to specify the main class in a target is in the [Info.plist Entries > Pure Java Specific > Main Class] text field. But it seems that this would be used only to generate the Info.plist file, not the MANIFEST.MF file.

Can anyone help me by explaining the proper way to have XCode generate a complete manifest file?

I see that there is a [Settings > Simple View > Manifest File] text field in the target but I am not sure how that one should be used. By including a MANIFEST.MF file in the project and typing its name in there? Other?

Many thanks in advance.

JM

PS: If anyone can suggest online or offline resources to learn how to use XCode effectively with Java and Ant, Maven, CVS, and whatnot, that would be great too.
