I am (suddenly) having trouble with ellipses characters (three dots)<x-tad-bigger>"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." – John Adams, 1798</x-tad-bigger>
being confused for ampersands (&) in my XML I/O system. I would like
to intercept this character and escape it, as I do for a number of
other characters, but the escape entities don't work. I tried
… and &hldr; which are supposed to be the named entity refs,
but the XML parser complains that those are undefined entities. I
also tried ߪ which is supposed to be the numerical ref, but
that gives me back a black square in Java instead of giving back an
ellipsis.
For now, I am cheating and turning the ellipsis into three periods.
Does anyone know a correct, working character entity for ellipses?
