Yes.

I am aware of problems with BOTH the Swing AND the SWT implementations in OS X.

Which are worse?  Reread my deconstruction of "better"...

I use Swing, or sometimes plain old AWT.  But onless you know my reasons
for choosing each one, the notion of "good" doesn't necessarily apply.
That is, what I consider "good" may not meet your criteria even for
"acceptable".

And, yes, my experience with the different technologies DOES play a
significant part in my choices, as it does with almost everything I do.
Experience = time.

Since you haven't said anything about what you're trying to do, I can't say
anything about whether any of Swing's shortcomings will affect you.  If you
can be more specific, we may be able to offer better advice.  In the
absence of specifics, all you should expect is generalizations and
equivocation.
