Did you launch it from the Finder or from a terminal?

I have Java 1.5 installed, but I can't tell from within the app which JVM is being used.

My PB has the ATI w128meg of graphics ram.  Do you have the same setup?

I normally use Eclipse for my regular IDE.  For this type of thing, I just dropped into a terminal and ran VI.  I had forgotten about using 'open'.  A very handy command!
