Tomcat 5.5 *requires* Java 5 (JDK 1.5). It's a free download from
Apple. However, JDK 1.5 will NOT run on Mac OS X 10.3.9. You need to
install at least version 10.4 in order to run Java 5 on a Mac. That's
not so much a *free* upgrade.

Hello,
As the subject points out, I am completely new to Java and need to do
some JSP fiddlin'. I'm ( unsuccessfully ) trying to install Tomcat (
apache-tomcat-5.5.17 ) into OS X 10.3.9. I have Java 1.4.2_09
installed. Could I possibly be trying to install the wrong version of
Tomcat?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks
