Re: Apple should get behind Cocoa Java



How about a different tack? How about getting gcj and cocoa working well together? (Or do they already?) I have only passing familiarity with this stuff, but it seems to me that if you're using Cocoa, you're not running cross-platform, and you don't need AWT. So why not compile your java with gcc straight to universal native code? And isn't ObjectiveC just a language front-end to gcc on the mac anyway? This approach just seems... easy?

I know that for my tastes, if I were going to write a mac-specific app, I'd hate to have to go back to anything like C, objective or not.
