If you prefer I could probably give you a JEP that would work for 1.5 as well. That seems to fire my MacOSXCookieHandler if I sneak one in. Unfortunately 1.4.2 appears to ignore it, so JEP with that alone isn't the 1.4 solution either, just another 1.5 possible answer.
Anyone who can and wants to answer what 1.4 did differently to handle cookies?
