The details refer to a past DP, not the current one, so you should
interpret the instructions accordingly. You should probably read
the rest
of the thread, and search for similar topics.
The cited post was the top hit when searching the archives for:

which I had mentioned previously, though not as overt keywords:
You could search the list archives for keywords like "uninstall" or
"deinstall" for tips on reading the package's BOM and removing
Installer
receipts, but you'll still be on your own when it comes to the
effectiveness of such removals.
I emphasize that you will still be on your own in doing this, and
if you
take no precautions you may break something that causes you to lose
data.
Replacing the OS using "Archive and Install", however, is both
safer and
simpler. It needs several GB of free disk space in order to "move
aside"
the replaced OS components, which you can later delete in pieces or
salvage
previous files from.
AFAIK, "Archive and Install" preserves all your network and account
settings, but it may not preserve some config-files that have been
manually
edited, such as Apache reconfigs. So before deleting things from the
set-aside OS files, you should salvage everything from it you consider
valuable.
