Perhaps Apple should set up another mailing list about using Java in
Apple products not running on OS X ;)
The answer is that Safari WIndows uses Sun's Java Plugin framework,
so if you turn on display of the console using Sun's control panel
applet, it will appear when Safari runs something Java.

Hi,
I am trying to debug my applet that crashes Safari Beta 3 for
Windows and could not find how to launch Java console or get any
other way to the system out. Enabling the Debug menu does not help.
The applet is written with plain Java 1.1 and was used online for
many years.
thanks,
