Dave_P's solution worked for me! I am so happy to have the CodeWarriror compare files back. I didn't actually notice that Microsoft Office wasn't working until my wife started screaming about it. I do hope that Apple Telephone will continue to support their computer side-line. There should have been a patch for this very nasty problem within hours of the release of QuickTime 7.2. Anyway, I sent Pacifist their well deserved $20 registration fee.

1. Download QuickTime 7.1.6 installer
2. Download Pacifist
3. Use Pacifist to install QT 7.1.6. This safely installs it over the top of
the broken QT 7.2
4. Reboot into Safe Mode (hold Shift key down as soon as the 'bong' sound is
heard. Release Shift key when grey apple logo appears. Login screen should
show the words 'Safe Mode'
5. Login
6. Re-install the OSX Combo update from file
MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10Intel.dmgand Restart when prompted.
