Do you have CATALINA_HOME and JAVA_HOME set correclty?
These should be the only variables that Tomcat needs to start up.
JAVA_HOME should be "/Library/Java/Home", and CATALINA_HOME should
the root of your Tomcat installation.
BASEDIR is set programatically in the script, so setting that
manually doesn't do anything.
Hope that helps,

I wonder why in some tomcat versions, the scritp is not able to
start the server cos the BASEDIR environment variable
I have seen some people with similar problems on the web with this
variable
Ideas?
What is failing is my tomcat catalina.sh script
The bootstrap jar file seems to run fine
