Apart from source code, what are all the factors affecting AWT rendering? I
had an app working under 10.3.9 with JRE 1.4.2_07. It had a clipping bug under
10.4.9 with both JRE 1.4.2_09 and JRE 1.5.0_06. I upgraded and reformatted my
disks (for other reasons), and now the bug does not appear under any OS
version. The source code has not changed, though, so it's still lurking
somewhere. I have checked all combinations of
* OS versions 10.3.9 and from 10.4.6 to 10.4.10
* Java updates recommended by Software Update (various JREs and VMs)
* Java System Properties like apple.awt.antialiasing (I don't set any)
The bug never appeared in XP or 10.3.9, but had been very consistent under
10.4.9. Does the version of QuickTime or any system-wide preferences affect
AWT rendering?
