Eclipse is running fine with Java 6 here. I added these two lines
-vm /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin/java
to the beginning of the eclipse.ini file. Setting Java 6 to be the active JVM was not necessary.
Thanks again!!

I had it working, but I've since upgraded to Leopard and also updated
my Eclipse, so I have to relay just what I remember doing, as follows:
1) Set Java 6 to be the active JVM in Preferences->Java->Installed JREs
2) Use Java Preferences (search on spotlight -- should be there) to
set Java 6 to be the active JVM on the system.
I can't remember if part 2 was necessary for Eclipse or not, but I think it was.
Hope that helps.

And eclipse will (probably revert?) to using the Java 1.5...
Anyway, if anyone has got this working, please post the solution!
