Re: Is anyone running Eclipse with Java 6 DP on Tiger?

Eclipse is running fine with Java 6 here. I added these two lines

-vm
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin/java

to the beginning of the eclipse.ini file.
Setting Java 6 to be the active JVM was not necessary.

HEUREKA! Thanks, Simon!
This works! And Eclipse behaves a whole lot "snappier" now!
E.g. I am using the great MyEclipse plugin for development and before, some portlet took
about 2 minutes to build (the war file had a lot of libraries included) and now, it takes
about 3 seconds!!
Oh, I am soooo happy! :-)

I have tried before to set it up via the -vm param, but the path
I was passing was not correct (/System/Library/Frameworks/ JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home)

Thanks again!!

Best regards,
Kris

I had it working, but I've since upgraded to Leopard and also updated
my Eclipse, so I have to relay just what I remember doing, as follows:

1) Set Java 6 to be the active JVM in Preferences->Java->Installed JREs
2) Use Java Preferences (search on spotlight -- should be there) to
set Java 6 to be the active JVM on the system.

I can't remember if part 2 was necessary for Eclipse or not, but I think it was.

Hope that helps.

I cannot get it to work...
I have specified the -vm flag (-vm /System/Library/Frameworks/
JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/) in the eclipse.ini file,
but than I get errors:

==========
!MESSAGE The proxied handler for
'de.babe.eclipse.plugins.multiClipboard.handlers.ClipboardHandler:se lect
All' could not be loaded
!STACK 1
org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: Plug-in

de.babe.eclipse.plugins.multiClipboard.handlers.ClipboardHandler.
at
org.eclipse.core.internal.registry.osgi.RegistryStrategyOSGI.throwEx cept
ion(RegistryStrategyOSGI.java:180)
...
==========

And eclipse will (probably revert?) to using the Java 1.5...

Anyway, if anyone has got this working, please post the solution!

Best regards,
Kris
