With the new java.awt.Splashscreen API introduced in Java 6 (I use it in the Developer Preview) you can show splash screens even before your application's classes are initialized. This also works using the command line.

But I bundle my classes into an application, the splash screen doesn't show up; I included in the Info.plist file: -VMOptions: -spash:start.gif -JVMVersion: 1.6+

Anyone an idea?
