It would be good for us to create a forum for this so we can have easier threaded discussions about technical topics. Suggested topic areas are:

* BSD/OpenJDK
* AWT/Swing/Cocoa
* SWT/Carbon
* Application wrapper/Support code
* JNI
* Tools

We'd also want to setup a place to download:

* Source
* Binaries
* Sample code
* Documentation

Currently parts of this exist, but it is spread out and uncoordinated. A little organization will go a long way.

Absolutely -- and to add to this list, bug tracking -- my Inbox is not scaling =)

The only additional complexity is that Java 6/JRL source/binaries can't be hosted by Google Code (or similar).
However, OpenJDK/Java 7 code is GPLv2 (+ classpath exception) licensed, and *can* be hosted on Google Code.

I'm very, very happy to report that the OpenJDK Porters group has now been created, providing a forum for Mac OS X and BSD porting work into the OpenJDK project:
http://openjdk.java.net/groups/porters/

Porters Group

While the OpenJDK code base covers some mainstream CPU architectures and operating systems, there are
many more platforms that are attractive targets for porting efforts for Java. This group exists to bundle and aid
such efforts under the OpenJDK umbrella, and integrate them in the OpenJDK community through porting projects.

Porting Projects

The BSD porting projects, led by Kurt Miller and Greg Lewis, have expressed interest in joining OpenJDK, as well
as the Mac OS X porting project led by Landon Fuller.

The goal of the OpenJDK Porters group is to provide an umbrella for collaboration on projects such as SoyLatte. I'd propose that we employ some stop-gap infrastructure solutions until such time as OpenJDK Mac OS X Port project infrastructure is available. I'm happy to keep hosting code repositories (and providing commit access), and am open to suggestions on other resources.
