The point is that you're setting DISPLAY from a terminal, but probably running Eclipse from the dock. The DISPLAY setting is only visible to that terminal. Try running Eclipse from the command line (by not opening Eclipse.app, use ./eclipse (from the Eclipse installation directory).


ALternatively you can add the export DISPLAY stuff to some global initialization script (so it's visible from everywhere) - sorry I can't tell the details, I'm not able to.
