I would like to add to Harry's positive experience. I have written several apps that deal heavily with images. Such that jai was insufficient. I had to use JNI to accomplish the task at hand. I first received incredible responses from Sun. It was a regular dialog with developers which led me down a productive path, although with a few rabbit trails thrown in. Then finally, when I struggled to get it to work on the mac, I received excellent support from the mac team. Excellent, but certainly no better than the that which I received from sun. The only difference was the whole NDA aspect of my discussions with apple. In their defense, they did the best they could to provide the information in a NDA free manner, but their manner about approaching the problem took a little getting used to. In any case, they were both quite positive experiences (getting reasonably quick answers while my boss was breathing down my neck).
