Re: looking for laptop to do java development

That's the whole point: I didn't. First of all, you need plain
NetBeans 6 IDE for Mac OS X. You can't download NetBeans for OS X with
mobility pack, so, you should download just plain IDE and then, from
within NetBeans install all plugins related to Mobility. It will give
you possibility to create J2ME project, BUT, it will not install WTK.
So, you still need build system. Some time ago, I came across
excellent blog entry:

http://javablog.co.uk/2008/01/17/j2me-development-on-os-x-revisited/

It is quite lengthy, but gives you several hints how to get
"preverify" working in OS X. Also, for emulation use MicroEmu. One
more time, in the end you will get functional plain Java emulation of
MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 with only two JSRs: 75 and 135. If you are
planning to use something else, you will not be able to run it, only
compile and only with manually collected jars from other emulators.
Please note, it is not very easy process, but at least strait-forward.
If you can write shell scripts and know J2ME, NetBeans and exact JSRs
you need, it wouldn't take long.

Best
