I'm trying :-) as there's a bug in the NetBeans profiler that prevents me from running it. In the next days I'll try to work around that. Indeed a detailed profiling is of course a necessary thing, the meaning of my post was to understand at first if there are "macro" things, such as different optimizations profiles in the VM, etc... I'll keep you posted.


In the meantime, thanks to Greg and others for the bunch of insightful suggestions.
