No, let's not pretend anything. Let's deal with the realities.

I appreciate the kudos, but I think you are mistaking my point.

Undeniable.

Equally undeniable.

I'm not. At least not in the sense I think you mean.
Business is business. If one of your suppliers screws up, you have to deal
with it. How you deal with it depends on you and the supplier. That is
what I advocate doing: dealing with the reality of the situation in a way
appropriate for your business.
Other options are to ignore the screwup, or pretend it didn't happen, or
just hope for it to get better by itself. I do not advocate any of those.
I suspect fanbois would.
However, if you think you don't have to deal with someone else's screwups,
or even just their own self-interested business decisions, then I think
that's delusional.

Yes. I completely agree on all points.
Note that I also advocate dealing with reality. Apple has decided to do
something other than what you wanted, so the next move is up to you. You
can make an emotional vindictive decision or you can make a rational
business decision taking all business factors into account. Your choice.

Or Apple's choices don't matter that much to their business options. In
other words, if your business options aren't inextricably tied to java 6,
then it matters little to you what Apple does or doesn't do, and when it
does it.
