Java is available in all versions and bits on Windows and Linux.
Apple
is the one who is failing to conform here. Don't push their bad
decisions on us. Java 6 should be available on Tiger and Leopard, for
32 and 64 bit, and it should have been so long before now. Anybody
who
thinks otherwise has their lips placed a bit too close to Apple's
backside.
A quick search on Apple's job site shows 2 Java engineer vacancies:
Java Runtime Engineer 3489430 Santa Clara Valley 13-Mar-2008
Java Technical Lead 3296086 Santa Clara Valley 16-Apr-2008
Perhaps if some of those currently complaining about the state of Java
on OS X applied for those positions then they could do something
constructive about the alleged problem?
Then those who subscribed to java-dev for "technical discussions
related to Java on Mac OS X" would be doubly blessed with an
outstanding Java VM that runs on all OS X versions (both 32 and 64
bit!), and an improved signal to noise ratio on this list.
Cheers,
Koryn
