Re: Java Webstart Not working in Leopard

Tried deleting that file, still no luck.  I get the same error.

Try deleting the file ~/Library/Caches/Java/deployment.properties (or better yet, move it aside), and then open your JNLP file again.

No this is Leopard 10.5.1.  Seems quite broken to me.  No JWS app will load no matter which one I try.  All give the same error (see below).  Straight Java apps work fine. And in fact, the JWS console that pops up, states that the jre is 1.5.0_13.  Seems like JWS is just not able to correctly determine what version of JRE it has access to.

Weird.

That app works fine for me.  Is this Tiger or Leopard?  If it's 10.4, I suggest downloading the manual installer for the latest Java from here and re-running it:

I get the same error no matter what jws app I try to use.  For example, I tried this webapp I found on the web at http://www.elluminate.com/support/softwaredownload.jsp.  I get the same message:

"#### Java Web Start Error:
#### The application has requested a version of the JRE (version 1.4+) that currently is not locally installed. Java Web Start is unable to automatically download and install the requested version. This JRE must be installed manually."

Any ideas?

Hi Grady,

I think you have an errant . in there.  Try 1.5* or 1.4* and see if that helps.

Every time I load a jnlp file from Safari, JWS pops up and complains that I do not have a new enough jre.  The jnlp file says, " <j2se max-heap-size="256m" version="1.5.*"/> "  and I have 1.5.0_13 installed.  What gives?  I have a new enough jre.

I have also tried this with a jws app that only asked for 1.4.* and I get the same message saying my jre is not new enough.

TIA,

Grady
