The archives are broken, across all lists. Nothing newer than May 2007.
I've filed it with list admins, but no fixes yet.
Alternative is to use google with the site:lists.apple.com search term.

The previous discussion didn't get that far. It was still in the
observation and characterization stage when the OP solved the immediate
problem.
You can still find the thread on the newest-first list-by-date archives
(search on the page for Midi):

The original post has moved to page2, though. Or look at the By Thread view.
