SURPRISE - I just got it to work by taking the working info.plist
(for the other application) and editing it to the entries I needed.
MORE SURPRISE - taking my original plist and editing it to those
same entries - does not work properly!!!
Maybe there are some UNIX or other flags which need setting? Where
do we look to see how to make applications behave in Spaces???
A new or even just different application might update Launch Services
database correctly where the failing one doesn't. Pretty much as has
already been indicated. One Info.plist isn't necessarily better or
worse than another, there is no entry in the plist that is the key to
success. It is a matter of whether the Launch Services database ends
up with inaccurate information for any applications. There are ways
to try to force the database to update after it ends up incomplete as
have been mentioned. The only other possibility, if you can manage
it, is to try and put the application together in a way that it
doesn't throw off LS. For example I used to find that manually
editing the Info.plist file with the "Property List Editor"
application tended to mess up LS, while updating it with file i/o
would not.
