You would have to post the actual plists, or URLs to them. Without seeing the actual plists, there's no way to even begin to figure out or explain what's happening.



Maybe there are some UNIX or other flags which need setting?

The only settings that should matter are read permissions and ownership. Do an 'ls -lR' on the app-bundle with the working Info.plist and with the non-working one. If you can't figure out what's going on by looking at the listing, you would have to post the listing to the list.
