Well, actually, until the scaling performance problem is fixed (see
bug #5607632) I've been telling clients to add -
Dapple.awt.graphics.UseQuartz=true to their applet parameters.
Telling them how to use the Java Preferences app was OK but now having
to instruct them how to use a text editor and manipulate a scary
looking file like that one is going to be a problem.
This is odd. It seems we now have to edit ~/Library/Caches/Java/
deployment.properties manually. The applet settings have been
removed from the Java Preferences app. Anybody care to elaborate
on a possible reason?
The entire UI of Java Preferences has been overhauled with the
redesign of lower-level application launching logic. Is there a
particular runtime option that you have found necessary to adjust to
make applets behave correctly? Is it something we should set by
default, or a workaround for a bug?
Curious,
