I have the same problem. Here's the result of my "ls -la":
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 3 root admin 102 Sep 3 10:22 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 root admin 170 May 29 21:08 ..
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root 502 34 Sep 3 10:22 netbeans ->
../Resources/NetBeans/bin/netbeans
Also, the Info.plist is OK.
Actually, I think the issue may be more subtle than you suggest. See
http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=146119
for details but, to summarize:
- Several people are running into the NetBeans launch problem.
- Some can launch successfully from the terminal. For example, I can't do a
Finder launch of NetBeans but can launch it from the terminal with the
command:
open "/Applications/NetBeans/NetBeans 6.1.app"
Some are less lucky.
- A similar problem occurs for me with IntelliJ IDEA, except that it
manifests during attempts to compile/rebuild projects rather than as a
launch failure (see the NetBeans bug report for details).
- There's also a thread in the Apple forums about Java app problems that
seems to be related (again, bug report for details).
The problem is not widespread but it is not unique either. It also does not
seem to be restricted entirely to NetBeans. It may well be that mine and
others Java installation has been hosed in some way but, so far, neither
NetBeans, nor JetBrains (IDEA) nor Apple has had much luck figuring out
what's happened. Certainly I did nothing explicit to muck it up. The problem
first occurred for me between two "normal" compiles within IDEA. That's when
I tried downloading NetBeans and saw the Finder launch problem. I suspect
that the IDEA and NetBeans problems are related because:
- They generate similar crash logs
- They generate the same error code (139)
I did file a bug report with Apple that was recently closed as unable to
duplicate (I have since sent them a little additional info .. we'll see what
happens next).
Thus it stands ... so far.

Gary Nunes
