Some more info on this. When the failure appears the following is in
the console. This seems to indicate that it's _not_ the stub causing
the problems, but some other java problem (caching of shared
libraries?)

Sep 25 18:49:58 xxxx [0x0-0x1e01e].GdiExplorer[344]: [JavaAppLauncher]
application launched with ppc-thin application stub. Using native
application stub instead.

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5/Commands/java[348]:

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Libraries/classes.jsa

Sep 25 18:50:31 xxxx com.apple.dyld[351]:
update_dyld_shared_cache[351] regenerated cache for arch=x86_64

Anybody any thoughts on how I can fix this for my customers ?
