I used to keep deep links, but I got tired of them breaking at
random times over the years.
I was just looking for some way to verify a new successful update.
For 10.4 I thought I was current which was originally indicated meant
the release wouldn't show in Software Update. It did for me. I
decided to go with the existing installation manual install off the
earlier provided link anyhow. But was wondering if there was some way
to verify I now had a good install of the 10.4 Release 9 update.
I finally decided based on file dates that I probably did. jnlp
worked fine and no other subtle install related problems seemed to be
there so I'm assuming I'm current with no real difficulties.
The release notes I found looked a little sparse. I thought they did
used to be a good place to look for descriptions of things new to the
release like the /usr/libexec/java_home tool.
I believe the joke from years back was documentation can be nice
because it's easier to just say RTFM then clearly explain it every
time it comes up.
