Re: Re: Can I develop iPhone applications using Java?

I don't think Apple should have the burden of porting Java to the iPhone when Sun has ignored Apple for years while making ports for Windows, Linux and Solaris. The question is why hasn't sun ported the Java VM as a static library for the iPhone that you could then incorporate into your application. They could deliver an application template into which you put your jar file and the app loads and runs it.

I am a Java developer, but I think Apple made the better choice of building powerful support for web standards into the phone so you don't need to use third party plugins like Flash and Java. I'm really happy to see the increased support for HTML 5, and more and more I find myself migrating to HTML, CSS and JavaScript for application solutions rather than using Java.
