OpenGL currently supports the ARB texture Compression extension. This allows you to pass in an uncompressed texture and have OpenGL compress it before uploading it the graphics card. Currently OpenGL doesn't offer a way to get the compressed texture back out. We're looking to add that in the future._______________________________________________

This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but I don't suppose anyone has a Mac version of the S3TC texture compression library. Anybody know anything about the existence of such more enlightening than "I highly doubt it"?
Thanks!
