Yah, palettized textures always seemed like an extremely cheap
compression system. I was "dismayed" to say the least when I first read the
OpenGL Guide and saw that they either didn't exist or didn't work yet.
Hopefully they do now...
If it is possible to make an OpenGL window on OS X, then we may just go
with that. The final screen copy should certainly be faster than our
blitter. Hmmm, I really want to keep the window from being tied to the VBL
and also I'd like to update just portions of the screen (like small rects)
at a time. I am just worried that so much of this stuff is on the fringe
that it may not work on all macs. We have the full screen cases all working
I think, so we just have to see if OpenGL can live with menus and dialogs
okay, and we don't get a huge speed hit. Thank you all for your help,
