Carbon Events & GetKeys

Are Carbon Events a suitable replacement for GetKeys?

Has anyone had good luck with replacing GetKeys with Carbon Events? I've
never liked the variation that (AFAICT) can arise across key layouts and the
KeyMap. I'm having a hard time determining how I can mix WNE and Carbon
Events though.

I noticed GetCurrentKeyModifiers is a new call for Carbon, which might
suffice in conjunction with normal WNE events.

I need to target 8.6-10.2 w/ CarbonLib 1.4ish or later, but it wouldn't be
too objectionable to conditionalize the keyboard handling.
