Re: AGL documentation

Um, I could use some clarification on this matter.

First of all, when you say AGL_TARGET_OS_MAC_OSX is deprecated, do you actually mean the need to make the call aglConfigure(AGL_TARGET_OS_MAC_OSX,GL_TRUE); in Carbon/Mach-O code is deprecated, and no longer necessary (or even possible)?

It is not needed and will do nothing if called. It really will do nothing at all.

Second, I can't find whether a bug has been filed or not, but the "current" Carbon Porting Guide on developer.apple.com still explicitly says this call IS necessary for Carbon/Mach-O code using aglMacro.h, so if it isn't, somebody needs to fix that doc to avoid causing folks grief. Does a separate bug need to be filed against that document to get it modified?

Should not be needed and you can fill a bug if you like against the docs.

Third, can I get a clarification on when (e.g. what versions of Carbon library, etc.) it became deprecated? Is it no longer needed for _any_ such code, or just not needed for code using the latest Carbon libs and/or developer tools? In other words, can porters just wholesale remove the call to aglConfigure() in their code, or do we still need to have it for certain older versions of the Carbon lib or AGL.Framework?

Never has been needed for shipping Mac OS X v10.0 or later.

Thanks for any info you can provide on this, it was a bit murky precisely what you meant, and what code is impacted by the change.

Your welcome.
